For our January Watts & Learn webinar, join us for a discussion on a new $396 million grant program for Reducing Industrial Sector Emissions in Pennsylvania (RISE PA). This statewide industrial decarbonization grant program is funded through the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Climate Pollution Reduction Grants under the Inflation Reduction Act.

The purpose of RISE PA is to offer grants (up to 50%) for small-, medium-, and large-scale decarbonization projects at industrial facilities to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) and co-pollutant emissions by promoting investment into emissions reduction equipment and technology, including energy efficiency upgrades and solar energy.

At this webinar, we will be joined by the PA Department of Environmental Protection, who is administering the grant program, as well as the Pennsylvania Technical Assistance Program at Penn State (PennTAP), which can perform energy audits required by the grant application. The PA Solar Center will describe our GET Solar technical assistance program that provides commercial properties with guidance to consider going solar.

Some additional information:

This grant requires a NO COST energy audit conducted by Pennsylvania Technical Assistance Program (PennTAP) at Penn State University. The installation of a solar array is one of the permitted strategies that can be included as part of an overall carbon reduction plan eligible for up to 50% grant funding. Federal tax credits are also currently available for at least 30% for solar and storage, as well as accelerated depreciation and other possible funding mechanisms.

If small- to mid-sized manufacturers would like to get started before the webinar, they can schedule an energy assessment through PennTAP’s website (https://penntap.psu.edu/energy-and-operational-assessments/p2e2-assessments/). PennTAP will then begin to work with your organization to directly support your project needs. Through the GET Solar program, our experienced team will complete a detailed feasibility study of your company’s solar potential and estimated costs and savings, as well as help navigate an RFP process to identify qualified developers to complete your project.
